Nonlinear by Nature
chaotic curiosity was founded on a simple observation: the best builders don't exist in a single lane. The musician who hears rhythm in data pipelines. The film enthusiast whose eye for pacing shapes better user experiences. The pasta maker who knows that patience and precision produce something greater than the sum of their ingredients.
In chaos theory, small changes in initial conditions lead to vastly different outcomes. Intense curiosity sets the stage for virtually infinite possibilities. Every detour a person takes compounds into a perspective nobody else has — and that's exactly what we cultivate in ourselves and the people we work with.
Spanning physical and social science research, technical engineering, and full-stack development — with over 30 years of combined experience across XR, AI/ML, spatial computing, robotics, and immersive media in both the public and private sector — the team at chaotic curiosity brings a research-native engineering perspective to every project.
How We Work
Immersive Experiences
We build VR/AR applications for education, training, and entertainment — and teach your team to extend and maintain them.
AI & Intelligent Systems
Custom AI development and hands-on enablement training — we build solutions with your team and teach them to own the technology.
Training & Consulting
Workshops, advisory, and hands-on enablement for research labs and organizations adopting emerging technology — we don't just build, we teach.
Who We Work With
From research universities to aerospace, museums to startups — we partner with organizations pushing the boundaries of what technology can do.
The Team
A small, senior team with deep roots in physics, computer science, and design — brought together by a shared love of building things that matter.

Don Balanzat
Founder & Technical Director
Don brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of physics, emerging technology, and education. Starting from building AI voice assistants and gesture control systems during his physics studies, he went on to run an experimental physics demonstration laboratory at Arizona State University. His first master's degree in geological sciences explored virtual/augmented reality and embodied cognition for learning and training. At Blue Origin, he built XR and AI applications for spacecraft design and manufacturing across all major vehicle programs. A second master's from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University deepened his expertise in human factors for spaceflight and emerging technology. Today he leads chaotic curiosity's technical strategy and client engagements while also working in AI enablement at a Fortune 500 company.

Alireza Bahremand
Director of Research & Development
Alireza specializes in immersive and intelligent systems at the intersection of VR, AR, and AI. His work focuses on building real-time applications that combine computer vision, machine learning, and interactive 3D technologies. He has led projects involving point-cloud and volumetric visualization, AI-driven media processing pipelines, motion capture systems, and sensor-integrated mixed reality experiences. His deep expertise spans game engine tooling in Unity and Unreal Engine, with an emphasis on integrating computer vision, tracking systems, and AI models into immersive applications. Alireza also develops AI agents and interactive systems for XR environments, optimizes pipelines for streaming and visualization of 3D data, and deploys AI workloads across local and cloud infrastructure. At chaotic curiosity, Alireza drives technical implementation from concept through delivery, turning ambitious ideas into polished, production-ready systems.

Dylan Kerr
Director of Design
Dylan specializes in multidisciplinary design at the intersection of human-centered experience, emerging technology, and strategic innovation. His expertise spans the full product design lifecycle — from early-stage user research, journey mapping, and information architecture through high-fidelity prototyping, interaction design, and design systems development. With a background that bridges industrial design and UX, Dylan brings fluency in both physical and digital product ecosystems, crafting cohesive, intuitive experiences across platforms. His work has touched aerospace, enterprise AI infrastructure, education technology, semiconductor manufacturing, and extended reality. Dylan holds a Master of Arts in UX Design with a focus on Digital Culture and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, both from Arizona State University. At chaotic curiosity, Dylan leads the visual and experiential design direction, ensuring that every client engagement is grounded in clarity, intentionality, and forward-thinking craft.
